St. Vitus' Dance

Why did my Sim suddenly start twitching and then melt into ashes?
Sims can spontaneously combust. It's rare, but it happens...

Viv says: "You must play." I'm beginning to think she's right.

No, no, no

I'm sorry, Nick, but introspection is bad. You can pretend all you want, but weblogs are not for therapy.

Weblogs are for an audience. If that weren't the case, you wouldn't be posting for all the world. Unless, of course, you were naturally prone to melodrama. Either way, the weblog is a performance.

When you say, "You can only have a weblog for so long before it becomes a mirror to your innermost thoughts," it's not your innermost thoughts. It's those of your character. The mask you wear on stage.

So be comforted: you're not really succumbing to "longing, restlessness, self-doubt..." You're just an exceptional method actor.

[current music: The Stranger - Billy Joel]
Well we all have a face
That we hide away forever
And we take them out and show ourselves
When everyone has gone
Some are satin, some are steel
Some are silk and some are leather
They're the faces of the stranger
But we love to try them on

My friends are freaks

Speaking of games, if any of you have ever considered moving into the business of running exercises (terrorist or any other type of emergency) it is exactly like running a DnD game. One (or more) people write the scenario (game). A bunch of people come in and have no idea what's going to happen (the players). The exercise controller (DM) runs the whole show, steering the group where necessary, and playing god to keep things moving.

Who knew that years of DnD were giving me job experience?

You know what, Bile? I agree with you. I doubt very much anyone would read that far either, considering you posted a comment to an archive page two months old. The only reason I even found it was because I'm trying to figure out how to migrate my old comments into MT.

Woo-hoo!

Got my sysop to update CGI.pm and now there's no more software errors on the upload function! GreyMatter works. MoveableType works.

I'm going to stick with MT. The import-export functions are much cleaner, and MT will host multiple blogs in individual directories (I could keep seperate blogs for Floyd's Follies and Jes'ikah' Journeys) if I choose. The only thing I know of that MT doesn't do is karma voting, but like I don't get enough of your opinions in your comments? Hah!

My wife's first boyfriend. He's been a working actor in New York since graduating, and now he's finally made it to Broadway. Congratulations, Mike!

Obviously

Obviously there is still much to do here. And I'm not even sure the URL will remain the same. But I invite you to poke around. Make a few comments. Point out what did and what didn't work about importing my old blogger entries.

I'd appreciate it muchly.

Thanks.

Software Error

Got an error:
/^([a-zA-Z0-9_ '":-/.\$\\]+)$/: invalid [] range ":-/" in regexp at /usr/pkg/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0/CGI.pm line 646.

Same damn upload error as greymatter. Maybe this whole thing is a waste of time.

GreyMatter v. MovableType

Dusty? Dayna? Please chime in. Why did you choose GM over MT? Did you even consider MT? I'm curious because my GM won't do the file upload thing (and foshdawg on support has never seen my error before) so I was thinking of installing & testing MT. Any reason not to?

Oh, wow. Where the hell was this when we were trying to make DeepCover into a functional forum? Shit, WikiWiki is SillyPutty compared to the BakedClay that is DeepCover.

And I was thinking about GreyMatter? Oh boy, I've got another think coming.

Man. Even the name is cool. WikiWiki.

InTheDoghouse ... try it!

I broke my blog

I was playing with templates this weekend. I decided to publish to blog*spot and stick it in an IFRAME at geocities. I only got half done before scrapping it. Here's the kicker, my back-up template is on my machine at home. That means I'm stuck with a generic template until I fix it. Oh well.

Your FTP Service
Beginning April 2, 2002, we will no longer provide FTP access as part of our free home page service.

Looks like I may end up back on blog*spot. Or maybe I'll go back to the livejournal. I've got time to think about it, I'll come up with something.
